Project 7

For this project we remixed How to start a revolution. I started by making my own synth and drum parts and then added the vocal parts to the mix. I wanted to make this remix more of a hip hop type song with lots of synths, kind of totally different from the original song. I made seperate synths for the verse chorus and the breakdown parts. I was pretty happy with the way my chorus worked out as the synth worked perfectly with the vocals. I hope you like it.

Project 6

For this project I used the sytrus to make 2 synth sounds. For one i used a saw wave and for the other a sign wave. I start the loop out with my first synth pattern and a building kick drum beat. The drum beat that comes on is the main one that is used for the whole loop. I used the boo bass channel to write my bass part. I made a drum fill in the step sequencer which I use to break up the parts of my loop. The next sound I used is a little slower and was made from the seco0nd synth I created. I finish the loop by going back to the first pattern and fading it out. Hope you like it.

Project 5

For this project I wanted to go with a more mellow feel than the other things I have made. I used the voodoo sound for my riff machine. The sound is a little muddy but when I transposed it up an octave it sounded bad and I could not find another sound to fit the rest of the piece, so I ended up going with it. For the other sounds in the song I used various other 3x sounds. I built the song up and then brought it back down to its original part at the end. Hope you like it.

Project 4

In this loop I started out with an FPC drum beat. I then selected the Fl slayer and chopped a note to create the main guitar part. I then used the Boo Bass channel for my bass part. Next I put the Slayer part into the mixer and created an automation clip of the fruity filters cutoff frequency tool. This made the sound of the guitar change throughout the loop. I then added the 3x channel to my step sequencer and chose the pilch tech pad for the sound. I used the xy controller the control this sound and then recorded it while moving the controller. This allowed the pitch of it to change, something I was hoping to accomplish. Hope you enjoy!

Project 3

In this loop I decided to use a lot of synthesizer. I started the loop out with an FPC rock beat. I then picked the SimSynth channel and chopped a note to create my first part. I transposed it and then I added an automation clip to it. I use the attack part of the filter in the SimSynth for my automation which changes the sound of the synthesizer drastically.

I then created another SimSynth part using the chop tool. I created an automation for this part too. I coupled this with a new drum beat from Fpc to create the second section of the loop. To end the loop I created an automation clip of the master volume and faded the loop out.

Project 2

To start I first opened up FPC and picked a rock loop that I liked. I moved this loop into the piano roll and modified it very slightly, because I already was a fan of the original loop. I then went into the slayer feature and found a slap bass sound that I liked. (I decided to choose a slap bass sound because I did not want a soft sound) I then opened it up in the piano roll and used the chop tool. Next I used the slayer once again and selected the Dire Straits Preset. I used the chop tool in the piano roll once again to create my guitar loop. I chose to chop it this way because I liked the fast speed of the guitar.

I changed to pitch's of both the guitar and bass loops by transposing them in the piano roll. I started it out with drums first followed by the bass and the main guitar sound. For the main section of the song I used 8 measure sections. I also used a snare drum roll a few times to break up each section. I used the piano roll and the chop tool to create the drum rolls. Next I included a break in my song with a synthesizer loop created from the bass sim synth channel. I thought this broke it up well and changed the feeling in the middle of the song. I chose to end the song by repeating the main section and fading it out at the end. I made the entire song from FPC, slayer and the sim synth channels.

Project 1 Drum Loop

This beat is inspired by some of my favorite artists such as Guns n Roses, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aerosmith. In the first section of the drum loop I used the bass drum to give my beat some character and to give it more of a groove. The second section of the loop consisted of a ride cymbal instead of a closed high hat like in the first section. This made the beat sound more free and open. In the fills in the pattern use a mix of the bass drum, the snare, and a clap to create a quick pattern.I felt that the first fill and the second section contrasted well together to create a good pattern. Hope You Like It.
